Abstract

This study explores the correlation between social media usage and mental health outcomes among adolescents aged 13–18. Drawing on survey data and psychological assessments, the research identifies patterns of anxiety, depression, and self-esteem linked to time spent on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. The paper also examines the role of algorithmic content delivery and peer comparison in shaping emotional well-being. Findings suggest a nuanced relationship, where both positive and negative effects are mediated by usage patterns and individual susceptibility.
