Abstract

In the processing of sheet metals, springback is among the most important problems affecting the accuracy and quality of final products. Extensive research has been focused on the effect of various elastic properties, like the variation of Poisson's ratio, yield strength, and elastic modulus on the emerging frequency of springback. In this paper, the experimental and numerical investigation is performed to clarify how these elastic properties affect the magnitude of springback. It is supported by high-precision measuring techniques and resorts to sophisticated finite element simulations to deeply understand material behavior under different forming conditions. The results shed some light on the correlations of springback with elastic properties and turn out to be very helpful in choosing materials and shaping procedures. The main objective of the study is to improve accuracy and reliability in sheet metal forming in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and allied industries. This will be realized through practical recommendations to reduce springback and hence improve the overall process of manufacture.
