Abstract

Breastfeeding is universally recognized as the gold standard for infant nutrition, providing essential
nutrients and immune protection that contributes to the overall health and well-being of both infants
and mothers. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes the importance of exclusive
breastfeeding for the first six months of an infant's life, followed by continued breastfeeding
alongside complementary foods for up to two years or more1. Breastfeeding is the normal way of
providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Improving
Breastfeeding rates around the world could save the lives of more than 820,000 children under age 5
every year, the majority (87 percent) being  under 6 months of age
